Your living room sofa goes through a lot in a day. It is probably the place you relax after a long day, hang out with your friends and family, eat pop corn or dinner while watching a movie. After a while, it might start showing signs of needing a clean.
If you have noticed your sofa is not looking very pretty at the moment but are not sure how to clean it, we gathered some tips that might help you.
The first thing you can do is vacuum your sofa to get red of dirt. For suede or velvet sofas, use the upholstery attachment and vacuum left to right in short strokes, starting at the top of the piece.
If you have a cotton-blend or linen sofa, you can use either water or a solvent cleaner. Start by using a dry and clean white hand towel to brush the sofa. Then sprinkle it with baking soda which helps release lurking smells. Let it sit for 20 minutes before vacuuming. If the piece has any stains, use a cleaning solution and gently remove it.
If you own a leather sofa, start by vacuuming it. Then, lightly spray the leather with a solution of vinegar and water to disinfect it and quickly wipe it down. Buy a leather cleaner for more heavily soiled areas.
